Types of Barbie Dolls
Toy Review:Everyone knows that Barbie caused a sensation when she was introduced. The cat eyes, the black-and-white bathing suit. It was the first time that young girls had a dimensional doll to dress up. (Before that paper dolls were all the rage. Imagine today's girls playing with those?) An original 1959 Barbie in mint condition could fetch up to $28,000. One reason is that they're so rare because kids actually played with her - again and again and again. And that's really the point, Barbie has always been designed to be played with; that's what makes her so special because each girl has a unique imagination so no two Barbie dolls can ever be alike, at least where it counts - in a little girl's world. So, while you may not have an original, this reproduction is a great gift for little girls, particularly from a mom or grandmom who remembers the original. A reproduction of the original face (She's change a lot, eh?) and her signature bathing suit is definitely a blast from the past. Plus, included in the package is the reproduction outfit from the "Solo in the Spotlight" fashion from 1960 as well as a reprint of the original booklet that came with the doll originally. This is the perfect addition to any Barbie collection. Sure, some will want to keep it in the box, but we say it's okay to play with it, too. There are no rules because the girl - of any age - is always at the center of the Barbie play. Manufacturer: Brand: Age Recommendati... |
